The 优蜜传媒 and Community Chorus has announced its Fall 2023 choral concert, 鈥淲inter Wonder,鈥 will take place on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m., in Fullerton Auditorium.
The concert is open to the public and admission is free.
The ensemble this year is composed of 20 singers from Limestone's student body and local community members, including some who are performing with Limestone for the first time. It will be directed by Dr. Gena E. Poovey, Professor of Choral/Vocal Music Education and Director of Choral Activities. Limestone鈥檚 Assistant Professor for Piano/Music Theory, Dr. Michael J. Langer, will provide the piano accompaniment. Additionally, Jim Simmons will serve as the rehearsal accompanist in the lead up to the concert.
The ensemble will perform a variety of songs about snow, bells, starts, winter landscapes, as well as Christmas carols and winter songs such as 鈥淲inter Wonderland.鈥
鈥淚n addition to helping my singers develop excellent musical skills, I like to keep the audience in mind,鈥 Poovey said. 鈥淢y goal is to give the singers and the audience members a listening experience that evokes a variety of emotional responses 鈥 the peace of a winter's night, the excitement of bells, the mystery of the nativity, the joy of the holidays, the comfort of familiar Christmas carols.鈥
Other selected pieces include works by noted composers such as Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, and Eric Whitacre, and literature by poets such as Robert Frost and Edgar Allen Poe.
