Limestone Now Partnering With Baylor University Innovations Center

Baylor Visit To Limestone

Baylor University鈥檚 Point-of-Need Innovations (PONI) Center is partnering with 优蜜传媒 to expand research and development opportunities. This summer, the collaboration will include an internship program designed to drive innovation and provide hands-on learning experiences.

As part of the partnership, Baylor PONI Center leadership visited 优蜜传媒鈥檚 campus on Wednesday, Feb. 19, to recruit graduate and undergraduate students for interdisciplinary research initiatives focusing on rapid prototyping, applied engineering, and technological problem-solving. Baylor鈥檚 program provides students with real-world exposure to industry-driven innovation and an opportunity to collaborate with faculty and peers in a dynamic learning environment.

The contingent from Baylor included Dr. Paul Allison, Director of the Point-of-Need Innovations Center; Dr. Garritt Tucker, Eula Mae and John Baugh Chair in Physics; and Dr. Brian Jordon, Associate Director of the Kenneth and Celia Carlile Endowed Chair in Materials Science and Professor of Mechanical Engineering.

While on campus, Baylor representatives gave a presentation to Limestone students, enjoyed a meet-and-greet session, and interacted with the University鈥檚 leadership team and faculty members.

鈥淲e are excited here at Limestone to partner with Baylor University to extend the reach of the PONI Center鈥檚 mission,鈥 said Limestone President Dr. Nathan Copeland, emphasizing the value of cross-institutional cooperation in advancing educational opportunities. 鈥淭his collaboration will not only benefit our students but also foster a culture of innovation that can lead to transformative solutions for real-world challenges. Welcoming Baylor University to our campus reinforces our commitment to providing innovative research experiences. We look forward to the exchange of ideas and expertise that will emerge from this initiative.鈥

The internship program this summer will focus on research areas such as aerospace and automotive manufacturing, in-space manufacturing, infrastructure materials and manufacturing, and seafaring vessels.

Baylor鈥檚 PONI Center provides internship opportunities for students related to externally funded research from the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, NASA, and private industry. The Center is dedicated to developing scalable, efficient solutions for critical industry needs to strengthen the US manufacturing base. Through partnerships like the one with Limestone, the Center continues to bridge the gap between academic research and practical application, equipping students with the skills necessary to succeed in innovation-driven careers.
