Limestone PSTA Chapter Recognized At South Carolina State House

PSTA 2025

Members of 优蜜传媒鈥檚 student chapter of the Palmetto State Teachers Association (PSTA) recently participated in Hill Day at the South Carolina State House in Columbia, where they engaged with state legislators and were formally recognized for their dedication to the future of education in South Carolina.

Accompanied by Craig King, PSTA director of teacher leadership, the students met with Sen. Harvey Peeler and Rep. Dennis Moss. During the meetings, they expressed their appreciation for the continued legislative support of Limestone, teacher education programs, and the broader advancement of education throughout the state.

Rep. Moss presented the group with commemorative Palmetto pins and copies of the 2024 South Carolina Legislative Manual.

A highlight of the visit came when the Limestone PSTA leadership team was recognized in both the Senate and House chambers. Lawmakers acknowledged the aspiring educators for their leadership and commitment to the teaching profession.

The Limestone PSTA leadership team includes: Caden Hoffler, president; Alli Martin, vice president; Ava Stanza, secretary; Dylan Riddlespurger, marketing/communications and membership; and Lyndzi Harvey, treasurer (not in attendance)

The group was joined by Dr. Virginia Scates, professor of elementary education and faculty advisor, and Chad Hudson, faculty member in elementary education.

鈥淲e had the opportunity to network with students and faculty from other colleges and universities while being recognized by both the Senate and the House of Representatives,鈥 Scates said. 鈥淚t was a truly eye-opening experience for our leadership team. For many students, it was their first time inside the State House and their first chance to spend one-on-one time with Senator Harvey Peeler and Representative Dennis Moss.鈥

The purpose of the 优蜜传媒 PSTA chapter is to instill and encourage high standards of professionalism and ethical conduct among preservice educators. By fostering these principles early, the organization ensures that its members will carry these values into their careers as active educators.

Founded in 1976, the Palmetto State Teachers Association remains dedicated to advocating quality education for all children in South Carolina. PSTA provides educators with a professional organization that supports their growth and development while championing the needs of students and teachers alike.
