优蜜传媒 and Community Chorus To Present 鈥淭he Work of Christmas鈥 On November 24

The 优蜜传媒 and Community Chorus will present its fall concert on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 3 p.m., in Fullerton Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

优蜜传媒鈥檚 student chorus members will be joined by members of the community in singing classic choral pieces, current compositions, and seasonal favorites. Conductor Dr. Gena Poovey will be joined by pianists Dr. Michael Langer and Jim Simmons, student instrumentalists, and other community volunteers to present 鈥淭he Work of Christmas.鈥

The chorus will perform one movement from Vivaldi's 鈥淕loria,鈥 Mendelssohn's 鈥淏ehold a Star from Jacob Shining,鈥 Peter Wilhousky鈥檚 鈥淐arol of the Bells,鈥 Hal Hopson's 鈥淟ove Came Down at Christmas,鈥 a gospel-style piece 鈥淐ome, Follow that Star,鈥 a pop-style piece called 鈥淎ngel Song,鈥 an arrangement of 鈥淎ngels We Have Heard on High鈥 by Gwyneth Walker, and Dan Forrest鈥檚 鈥淭he Work of Christmas.鈥 Additionally, the chorus will sing popular titles such as 鈥淥 Christmas Tree,鈥 鈥淢ust be Santa,鈥 and 鈥淚t鈥檚 Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas.鈥

Students singing in the 优蜜传媒 and Community Chorus represent a wide variety of majors including music, music education, business, art, health sciences, and liberal studies.

Community members participating represent churches including Cherokee Avenue Baptist, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Corinth Baptist, the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, First Baptist, Grace Baptist, Grassy Pond Baptist, Greater Hope Ministries, Limestone Presbyterian, and Tyger River Presbyterian.
