Wind Collision Concert Scheduled April 9

The Limestone College Department of Music presents Wind Collision in concert on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. in Carroll Recital Hall.聽

Comprised of Jonathan聽Kierspe聽on saxophone and Samuel Anderson on聽bass聽trombone,聽Wind Collision was formed in 2017.聽The duo initially met during their senior year of high school at the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities,聽and they聽have聽since聽performed at a NASA Regional conference in Indiana, commissioned six works, and set up a multi-state tour where they will give masterclasses and perform their聽original works.聽

As both a soloist and聽member of various chamber ensembles,聽Kierspe聽has performed in China, the United States, and across Europe. His work has been featured on NPR twice and in numerous festivals including the Bowling Green New Music Festival. This year alone,聽Kierspe聽has participated in 11 commissions for new solo and chamber works.聽聽

Currently聽Kierspe聽is聽pursuing his master鈥檚 degree at Bowling Green State University in Ohio聽where he studies with John聽Sampen, one of America鈥檚 leading concert saxophonists.聽He is also聽auditioning to doctoral programs.聽Kierspe聽received聽his聽bachelor鈥檚 degree from the University of South Carolina聽where he soloed with the school鈥檚 Wind Ensemble.聽

Residing in Muncie, IN, Anderson runs a large private studio and has performed across the United States and Germany聽with聽several聽regional orchestras, ensembles, and chamber groups including the聽Marion Philharmonic Orchestra, Muncie Civic Theatre, and Muncie Symphony Orchestra. He holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree from Vanderbilt University where he studied with Jeremy Wilson,聽a聽former member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.聽聽
